A modern residential remodel located in Portland’s Alameda district, this beautifully restored modern ranch offers an open layout and a Zen-like garden area. Designer Taka Nakagawa’s remodeling plan worked to emphasize the Japanese style inherent in the house’s Mid-century Modern ranch aesthetic. Some of the home’s well-appointed features include glass mosaic tile work, a hand-hewn Pacific Yew wood-fireplace hearth, mahogany cabinets, reclaimed old-growth fir finish materials, a Japanese soaking tub, and a natural wood sauna. All of the home’s systems have been modernized and equipped with energy star rated appliances.
